Displacement of American Workers
For several years a phenomenon has been happening inside this wonderful country known for providing the opportunity of the American dream. United States citizens and permanent residents have been achieving degrees and many obtaining advanced degrees to pursue their own personal American dream.
At the same time, foreigners have entered the United States to pursue the American dream by obtaining H1B visas and L-1 visas through American immigration regulations. This, in and of itself, is a wonderful idea and a great opportunity for the foreigner and for the United States to acquire talented, educated and innovative people from all over the world.
However, United States companies, big and small, have learned ways to abuse the H1B and L-1 visa programs to displace the United States’ citizens who went to high school, college and graduate school in the United States and who are as qualified, or, many times, more qualified, than the foreign workers who are taking the Americans’ jobs.
The displacement of American jobs by foreigners can occur in various manifestations. 1. The US worker can be fired and replaced by the foreign worker. 2. The US worker can apply for a job and be denied the job because the company hired a foreign worker. 3. The US worker can be fired or apply for a job and a foreign worker will fill that job outside of the United States.
For those who are unaware of the severity of this issue, large companies such as IBM, Microsoft, Walt Disney World and Southern California Edison fired hundreds and hundreds of highly educated American workers who worked for such companies for years and sometimes decades. These American citizens were replaced by foreign workers on visas saving the large companies insurmountable amount of money. Ford Motors, the American vehicle company, outsourced entire manufacturing units to Mexico avoiding the employment of United States workers.
Too many Americans have had their American dream stolen by America. It is not the foreigners stealing the dream. It is the immigration laws, the United States’ companies and the current laws related to outsourcing American jobs to other countries.
It is time Americans protect their rights. It is time Americans stand up for the rights of other Americans. This website is dedicated to victims who were displaced by foreign workers, advocates who want America to protect and care for the American workers and for those who fear for the future of the American dream of Americans.
